liberate your toes
My favorite morning routine is opening all the curtains and windows in my house to let light and fresh air in. Not only does it help me wake up and feel energized, but the house itself seems happy when stagnant air is released and replaced with the fresh morning breeze.
Stressing my body with stretch and compression feels like I’m opening up little windows in my body compartments to let fresh air/energy circulate. I can feel my body get happier.
One area in the body that is often bunched up into a small space and doesn’t get much circulation is the toes! Imagine being shoved into a sock or a tiny little shoe. I would feel so claustrophobic.
I often interlace my fingers between each toe and keep it that way for minutes, and when I let go, my toes and feet feel so light and happy. When I practice balancing on one foot or moving from pose to pose, I can sense my toes more because I take the time to stretch them and give them attention.
Your toes and feet are also always on the bottom of your body being stomped on, so lift your legs up in the air, see if you can spread your toes, and feel the breeze between them!
